International Conference on "Community and Water Services"

This is to inform you of an International conference which is schedule to be held in Kandy, Sri Lanka from 29th September 2011 to 01st October 2011. The theme of this conference is “Community and Water Services - Challenges for Sustainability”. This conference is organized by the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage of Sri Lanka together with Community Water Supply & Sanitation Project (CWSSP), National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWS&DB) and Lanka Rain Water Harvesting Forum (LRWHF).
Details of the conference are given below.
Objectives:
1. To share and highlight experiences of actors and beneficiaries in community empowerment through water supply
2. Promote Beneficiary participation including the role of women in community water projects
Themes
1. Water as a tool for community Development, success stories & lessons learned.
2. CBO concept and empowerment of communities
3. Micro/Financing & self financing by CBO’s.
4. Institutional, legal and social framework focusing on community
5. Water Governance and Democratization
6. Technology Management at Community level
7. Environmental and climate vulnerability in community water supply schemes
8. Water for community during disaster and conflict situation
9. Health and water quality
10. Gender issues related to Community Development and providing of water services
Target Groups: Water practitioners, CBO members, water professionals, Donors, NGOs and Industries.

Centre ( PGRC), Gannoruwa, Kandy, Sri Lanka

Registration Begins: 25th July 2011
Submission of Abstracts: 15th August 2011
Selection of Abstracts: 30th August 2011
Submission of accepted papers : 15th September 2011
Last date for registration: 15th September 2011
